i was born in moscow, russia and moved here when i was 5 in 1992…i live now in champaign-urbana/IL, which i like to call chambana. a lot of people i’ve met from the suburbs consider it small and enigmatic, but i always find something interesting and exciting to do at home
i speak russian fluently, but consider myself an all-american girl. this year has been different, as i’ve met many russian-americans and internationals, and have been reconnecting with my russian heritage. its become clear i can’t be pigeonholed into either ethnicity…i am who i am!
i study graphic design at uiuc…but spent two years of my undergrad studying violin performance at illinois wesleyan. music and art both lay close to my heart, and it’s a daily battle to keep both vibrant in my life.
a few things i like to do in my “free” time is practice violin, run, collage, ceramics (wheel throwing), and meet with new people. my latest project has been exploring typography through the clay medium…i’m in love with type, and wish for it to come alive and exist in three dimensions.
the end?
